As the man who unquestionably
takes the title as the F1 driver with the longest name (Jonkheer Carel Pieter Anthonie Jan Hubertus Godin de
Beaufort), Carel (who was a Dutch Count) was known as being a true gentleman in and out of the racecar. His
large, broad shouldered frame prevented him from competing in most conventional
race cars, so he took to the helm of a slightly outdated Porsche and entered it
in F1 in 1957. His skill was very apparent, as he elegantly nursed the
aging car to four point finishes in 31 Grand Prix.
