Speculation surrounding the future of the BMW-Williams collaboration will be put to rest in 'weeks' rather than months.
It was initially expected that Sir Frank Williams would pen a new deal with the Munich manufacturer before Formula One went racing in 2003.
But BMW is unhappy with the lack of progress at the Oxfordshire outfit since the four-year deal started putting the best engines in pitlane in the rear of Sir Frank's racers.
Motorsport director Mario Theissen says it is '50 percent' likely that BMW will simply extend the contract until the end of 2007 after it ruled out starting its own team.
He said: 'I should say we will probably come to an agreement [with Williams].
'If that happens I think it will be in weeks rather than in months after half a year of negotiation.'
The German admitted in Austria on the weekend that Munich are 'far from happy with' Williams' present form and is 'still evaluating several options.'
Theissen concluded that BMW is currently talking with Frank Williams about how 'the team needs to be structured' to the satisfaction of the manufacturer.
